CRE8 sat down with Mariana Vilchez

Actress / Latina

1. Introduce yourself

My name is Mariana Vilchez.

2. What kind of art do you do?

Acting.

3. What are the things you're most proud of/grateful for?

What I am most grateful is how much I have grown professionally as well as a human being on my journey . I am living my dreams and working hard for them. I am also so grateful for my tribe, the people I have surrounded myself with like family and friends who are constantly a big support in my everyday life.

4. What seem to be your biggest struggles being an artist and how do you override them?

My biggest struggle as an artist is getting human, whole, women roles without the stereotype, or

without being put aside because “I don’t sound American”. I am breaking those walls though, little by

little. It’s possible to do it you just got to keep pushing. Also being an artist had made me make

sacrifices. The biggest one has been being away from my family, who I am extremely close to. It’s painful but every time I book a project and I have the opportunity to tell a story it makes all that sacrifice worth it.

5. What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on a new play called “Pastel”. It’s in Spanish but anybody will understand it! It’s about love, betrayal, loss, and that search we do to find ourselves when we feel numb in our lives. It’s a very human and at the same time surreal story. I’m very excited to be playing Adriana. The play will open on September 20, 2019 and will run for a month at "The Complex Theater" in Hollywood.

I am also creating my YouTube Channel called "Single-ish" where we will be talking about love, life, heartbreaks, happiness and more fun stuff. Pretty much what it's like to live in Los Angeles, CA an artist and all the things we go through.

6. What is you're Mission as an artist?

To be the voice of those who can’t or don’t have one. To create unity in our society through story telling. As artists we have a responsibility to create a platform to affect positive change in the world through our art.

7. What quote inspires you?

My grandfather told me:

“Believe in what you don’t see because one day you’ll see what you believe in, and that’s

faith Mariana. In you and in God”
